Do you see the hiker at the lower right? He/She is on the Laugavegurinn Trail, likely heading south to Hrafntinnusker. Next summer, I plan to return here to make this entire 34 mile hike from Landmannalaugar to þorsmork plus an additional 14 mile hike down to Skógar near the coast over 4-5 days.
There were quite a few hikers on the trail. The day before on Mt. Bláhnúkur, I met a young and charming Belgian couple who were planning to start the hike in 2 days. I am already looking forward to picking out the color of my tent and sleeping bag . . .
As this was my final day in Landmannalaugar, after a few more exposures here, I packed up and continued on the Laugavegurinn for another 2 miles or so before I had to turn back. Sighhh . . . It was truly breathtaking to trek through the most beautiful and peaceful place on Earth.
